Description
The Mexico national football team, known as the Selección de fútbol de México, is one of the most successful teams in CONCACAF and plays a significant role on the international stage. Governed by the Mexican Football Federation, they have achieved significant success, including winning the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup, defeating Brazil in the final. Their highest FIFA ranking—4th place—testifies to the high level of play of Mexico's footballers.
Mexico has participated in 17 World Cups, and although their best result was reaching the quarterfinals (1970 and 1986), the team continues to strive for new heights. Importantly, Mexico's football infrastructure is well-developed: the country has several stadiums with a capacity of over 50,000 spectators, including the legendary Estadio Azteca. Mexico has also hosted the World Cup three times, the most recent of which will be held in 2026, jointly with Canada and the United States.
